FAQ

How do lessons work?

We start with a 15-min call to set goals and a timetable. Lessons are on Google Meet or Zoom. I use a shared whiteboard and exam-board papers. After each session you’ll get a short lesson report.

What exam boards do you cover?

All major exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, and OCR) are covered for all of the subjects we offer. Materials and lessons are tailored to your specification.

Do you give homework between lessons?

This is entirely the decision of the parent & student. Short homework assignments can be set to promote revision, but I understand that students already have a lot of homework from school so this is not necessary.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes, I have an Enhanced DBS certificate and a number of years' experience working with young people.

What equipment do students need for online sessions?

Students should have access to a device with internet connection and a working webcam and microphone. They may want to make notes or write down workings out during the lesson, in which case a pen and paper will be useful.

What is your cancellation policy?

Lessons can be cancelled / rescheduled at any point up until 2 hours before the scheduled start time, although please give as much notice as possible. If no notice is given then absences may still be charged in full.

Are lessons recorded?

Yes. For safeguarding, online lessons may be recorded and stored securely for up to 30 days. After this time, recordings are automatically deleted. They are never shared outside Newton Tutoring unless required for safeguarding or legal purposes.
